We were delighted to take part in Community Santa for Seniors in association with the Tipperary Garda District. We wrote Christmas cards and donated gifts which will be delivered to local Nursing Homes by members of An Garda Síochána. The senior members of our community have endured a difficult time throughout the pandemic so hopefully our cards and gifts will spread some Christmas cheer their way!
Congratulations to our past pupils Ellie Crowe and Taylor McCarthy who have qualified for the 2021 BT Young Scientist & Technology Competition. The girls attend St. Anne's Secondary School. They focused their project on the area of ecology and the topic of bracken fern. Good luck girls from everyone in Thomastown NS!
It was rugby weather at its finest for this week's session with James. The main focus was on our kicking with particular emphasis on the punt kick and the grubber kick. We're looking forward to trying out the drop kick in next week's session.
Best wishes to our past pupil Jack Leamy and the Tipperary Minors in the Munster GAA Hurling Championship Semi Final v Waterford on Saturday, 12th December in Páirc Uí Rinn.

Please see the following in the Enrolment Information section of our school website:
The following application forms may be downloaded from our website:
These forms may also be obtained from the school office. Completed application forms should be returned to the school no later than Friday 29th January 2021. Applicants will be notified of the decision on their application by 12th February 2021. Our Infants have just finished a very special project. They have made Christmas Cards for each resident in St. Martha's Nursing Home. They loved writing little notes to the residents and hope they all enjoy them. Well done Infants!
It has been a busy few weeks in 1st & 2nd Class! Construction work has stopped and our houses are finally finished. To get us in the festive mood, we have even turned on our Christmas lights!
As part of our extension project, we intend to develop a new play area at the rear of our school. The location of the proposed new play area is highlighted in the images below.
We will hold a Christmas draw on Monday 21st December 2020. All funds raised will go towards the development of this play area. The families in the school will be provided with tickets for this draw. Additional tickets will be available from the school office. Your support with this fundraiser is very much appreciated. By the end of this school year, we will hopefully have a new spacious and colourful play area in our school that will be enjoyed by our pupils for many years to come. The blockwork on the school extension is nearing completion. Work on installing the new wastewater treatment system has commenced and the roof trusses were delivered yesterday. This delivery operation was very well supervised by our Junior Health and Safety officers!
The photographs below show the current view of the construction site. We’re really enjoying reading Paddy Stapleton’s new book ‘Up In The Air’ in class. Although we can’t play any matches at the moment ourselves, we’re pucking every ball with Fitzy, Lizzy, Bones and the rest of the Glenstown team!
