We were delighted to welcome the Tipperary Under 20 hurling captain and local hero, Ben Currivan, to the school on Wednesday. Ben brought the J.J. Kenneally Munster Under 20 Hurling Championship Cup with him as well, a cup which Tipperary won recently when they defeated Cork in the Munster Final. Ben gave some great words of advice to all the pupils about how they should prepare and train as players. Huge thanks to Ben for all the time he gave with the pupils. Hopefully, we will see Ben back in the school again in the not too distant future with more silverware for both Golden Kilfeacle GAA and Tipperary. Enjoying an impromptu Ceilí and dancing to 'Galway Girl' - an appropriate song for the venue! Trying to beat the bog and save their shoes during the Turf Challenge in Killary Adventure Centre! For their last ever primary school tour, 6th Class travelled to Killary in scenic Connemara, Co. Galway. Firstly, they visited the Aerial Park and climbed into the tree canopy for some zip lining across four different courses, along with navigating their way around the 32 different elements throughout the courses. Next up, they returned to solid ground and tested their aim and accuracy with some Archery. As the group was in Connemara, they even managed to fit in a Ceilí into their schedule. Last but not least, they took on the Turf Challenge and they tried to beat the bog! The Turf Challenge was made famous on 'Ireland's Fittest Family'. Huge thanks to all the staff in Killary Adventure Centre who were so helpful throughout our time there.
The 6th Class returned home tired, a bit muddy but with some wonderful memories from their last trip with the school! We were delighted to attend the Rockwell College 5th & 6th Class Tag Rugby Blitz recently. Huge thanks to everyone in Rockwell College who organised such a well-run and enjoyable event. The refreshments provided for everyone after the games were greatly appreciated as well. It was great to meet some of our past pupils also on the day!
A video of Tomás completing one of the hurling drills at the GAA Skills Competition in Dr. Morris Park last week. Our 6th Class participated in the Tipperary Primary Schools GAA Skills competition in Dr. Morris Park last week. Well done to Tomás, Benjamin, Avril, Mia, Niamh and Lucy.
Congratulations to the boys and girls who celebrated their First Holy Communion on Saturday. We are very proud of you all. Thank you to Mrs. Ryan and Fr. Coffey for all of their work for the ceremony.
Best wishes to Jessica Byrnes in 6th Class who has been selected for the Tipperary Primary Game Camogie team. Jessica will be representing the school during half time in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship game between Tipperary and Cork in Semple Stadium this Sunday 19th May.
Enjoy your day, Jessica! |
