We're looking forward to following Leah's progress in the Bob Docherty Cup next month when the Republic of Ireland will play England and Northern Ireland in Newcastle. Best of luck Leah!
Congratulations to our past pupil Leah McGrath who has been named in the FAI Schools Republic of Ireland Under 15 soccer squad.
We're looking forward to following Leah's progress in the Bob Docherty Cup next month when the Republic of Ireland will play England and Northern Ireland in Newcastle. Best of luck Leah! On Thursday 31st March, our 5th Class pupil Lewis, is going to shave his head in aid of BUMBLEance, the Children's National Ambulance Service. Lewis has been sporting a "man bun" since he joined us in Thomastown and he has decided that now is the time to "chop his bun". Lewis will donate all the proceeds from his head shave to this very worthy charity.
The head shave will take place in school on the morning of March 31st where he will have the support of all his friends. Following this event, we hope to be able to arrange for a BUMBLEance vehicle to visit our school so that our pupils can learn more about this wonderful service. Lewis is a huge rugby fan and he was recently invited to a training session that was held for the Irish Senior Rugby Team in the Aviva Stadium. Irish full back, Hugo Keenan, heard about Lewis' upcoming fundraiser and and he presented him with his international jersey after the training session. Lewis is wearing the jersey in the photographs below. We are very proud of Lewis for undertaking this challenge. Donation cards are available in the school. Donations may also be made online by clicking on the following link: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=337813615071996&id=100001271912206&sfnsn=mo Photographs and videos of the head shave will be posted after the event. Best of luck Lewis. We are all looking forward to next Thursday. We held our very own St. Patrick's Day parade recently, providing some entertainment for passing motorists in the process! The day concluded with an impromptu Irish traditional music session. Bhí spórt agus scléip againn ag céiliúradh Lá Fhéile Pádraig ar scoil!
Congratulations to Brian, our 6th Class pupil, who has been selected for the County Tipperary Under 12 soccer squad. Brian plays his club soccer with Bansha Celtic Schoolboys. Best of luck to Brian, a very talented player with a bright future ahead of him!
Junior & Senior Infants were delighted today with a quick dash outside to try and catch some snowflakes!
We were delighted to welcome back some familiar faces to the school recently. Colin, James and Olivia spent a week working with the pupils and helping the staff with various tasks and activities while on work experience. All three are great role models for our current pupils and they are welcome back anytime!
Congratulations to our past pupil Kate Flannery who has been selected for the IRFU Women's National Talent Squad. The new programme aims to develop the most talented young female players in the country for senior international rugby.
Kate's selection is a fitting achievement for a very skilled and hard-working player and we will hopefully see her playing for the Ireland senior squad in the not too distant future! We put the finishing touches to our Rainbow Room this week.
We are delighted with how this room has turned out. It is a bright, colourful, and relaxing space that can be used by our pupils for a sensory break or for some “down time”. Classrooms can be very busy places at times so it is great to have this quiet space where children can have a little time to themselves in a calm environment. You might even find some of the staff hiding out here from time to time! The equipment and furniture in our Rainbow Room was purchased from the proceeds of our Christmas Draw. Thank you once again to our parents and to the people of the local community for your continued support of our school. 1st & 2nd Class spent some time on Friday experimenting in science with different materials to discover which is the best to make some waterproof boots for Teddy - the pupils have assured Teddy that the boots they have created will be extremely waterproof!
