Happy Halloween from all the witches, zombies, scarecrows, superheroes, dinosaurs, farmers and many other characters that turned up in Thomastown NS today! Wishing all our pupils, their families and school staff a wonderful mid-term break. See you all on the 7th of November. Well done to all our 3rd - 6th Class pupils who took part in the Primary Schools Cross Country Championships organised by Clonmel Athletic Club and Carrick on Suir Athletic Club on Wednesday in Marlfield. There were fantastic performances from everybody once again. Congratulations as well to our individual and team medal winners!
3rd and 4th class travelled the short journey to Tipperary Town to partake in a Halloween Rugby Festival hosted by Clanwilliam FC. Approximately 300 children were in attendance and the organisation and hard work was top class. We had a brilliant day and everyone came home tired but completely delighted with themselves and their medals! Such a great event that we thoroughly enjoyed!
We were delighted to welcome two of our past pupils, Daniel O'Dwyer and Regan McCarthy, back to the school last week. Daniel and Regan spent a week working with the pupils and helping the staff with various tasks and activities while on Transition Year work experience. It was great seeing you again boys!
Following our trip to the Spar FAI Primary School 5s Finals in the Aviva Stadium last May, Benjamin Moloney was selected as the Future Journalist for 2022 when he submitted a written report about his experience of the day. Benjamin's prize for being deemed the winning entry included:
Benjamin recently received his signed jersey and attended the Republic of Ireland v Armenia Nations League game in the Aviva Stadium on 27th September with his family. There were many highlights on the night for Benjamin including visiting the Republic of Ireland dressing room before the game, meeting Michael Obafemi (his favourite player) pitch side as the team arrived, watching the game from the media box in the stand along with meeting the Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny as well as the RTÉ Sport commentators Adrian Eames and Kenny Cunningham. Many thanks to the FAI who treated Benjamin and his family so well and provided Benjamin with a lifetime of memories! Last April, our current 6th Class pupil Lewis Dawson "chopped his bun" and shaved his head in school in aid of BUMBLEance, The Children's National Ambulance Service. Lewis raised €1880 for this amazing charity as a result of his brave deed.
Earlier this week, Jim from BUMBLEance arrived at the school with one of the BUMBLEance ambulance fleet. Jim showed the pupils around the BUMBLEance, explained about all the equipment that is used in the BUMBLEance and provided a great insight into the amazing work that the service does. Many thanks to Jim for making the trip to the school and showing everyone how important our donations are to this vital service. Huge thanks to Declan Barron, the South Tipperary FAI Development Officer, who visited the school recently to introduce the pupils to the 'Futsal In The Yard' programme. A really enjoyable morning was had by everyone!
Congratulations to Brian Hayes and Ryan Greenstein following their great win with Galtee Rovers in the County Under 13 Hurling Final recently. Well done to Brian, Ryan and everyone involved with the club - a brilliant achievement!
Best wishes to our past pupils Brian Hayes and Ryan Greenstein who are part of the Galtee Rovers GAA Under 13 team playing in the County Hurling Final v Fethard tomorrow. Good luck boys!
