1st & 2nd Class were busy putting their maths knowledge to the test today as they were using metre sticks and metre strips to measure lots of things around the classroom. We're pleased to report that their measurements were very exact so lots of potential engineers in the making there! There was great excitement in the school last Friday morning as we welcomed back two of our past pupils, Emer McCarthy and Fiona Tuohy. The girls visited the school following the recent success of Galtee Rovers in the County Tipperary Intermediate Ladies Football Final. Emer and Fiona brought in the County Intermediate Cup to show to the pupils as well as taking photos and speaking to everyone.
Hopefully, we will welcome the girls back to the school again in the not too distant future with the County Senior Ladies Football Cup as well! Tá comhghairdeas tuillte ag gach duine! While we are unfortunately still unable to participate in any organised competitions, the senior pupils have been kept busy with rugby coaching each Tuesday courtesy of Kilfeacle & District RFC. Everyone has thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to get outside and participate in these skills based and fundamental movement based sessions. Huge thanks to James 'Chilly' Hogan who has provided the pupils with fantastic coaching every week.
Thank you Chilly and everyone in Kilfeacle & District RFC! It was a busy weekend on the playing fields for a number of our past and present pupils. Firstly, well done to Charlie Hall and James O'Dwyer on their involvement with the West Tipperary Under 13 hurling squad in the Peadar Cummins Tournament.
Congratulations to Laura Kennedy, Grace Hayes, Leah McGrath, Grace Hogan and Lily Flannery on winning yet another title with their club, Tipperary Town FC. The girls defeated Cashel Town FC on a scoreline of 4-3 to win the Tipperary Cup. Commiserations to Grace Tuohy, another past pupil from Thomastown NS, who was playing with Cashel Town FC on the day as well. Leanaigí oraibh leis an dea-obair! Congratulations to our past pupils Grace Hogan and Leah McGrath who won the FAI Schools National Interprovincial Tournament with the Munster Under 15 Girls' soccer squad in Dublin over the weekend. This was the first time since 2011 that Munster have been crowned champions in this particular competition. Also, there was further success for Leah as she received the Player of the Match Award following her goalscoring performance against Ulster.
Well done to both Grace and Leah for the part they played in such a momentous achievement, everyone in Thomastown NS is very proud of you both! Huge congratulations to our past pupils Grace Hogan and Leah McGrath who have been selected on the Munster Under 15 Girls' soccer squad playing in the National Interprovincial Tournament in Dublin this coming weekend. The very best of luck to the two girls and we look forward to following their progress throughout the tournament! Congratulations to our past pupils Eimear Heffernan, Stacey Farrell, Leonie Farrell and Rebecca Farrell following their great win with Knockavilla-Donaskeigh Kickhams Camogie Club in the County Intermediate Camogie Final v Shannon Rovers at the weekend. Another fantastic achievement for the girls who can look forward to playing senior club camogie in 2022!
1st & 2nd Class joined Naomi Lavelle from Science Foundation Ireland for a little space exploration this week. Rockets were made and launched successfully, volcanoes erupted and we even managed to make some carbon dioxide...and lots of mess in the process. NASA here we come! #ScienceWeek2021
Congratulations to our past pupils Fiona Tuohy, Emer McCarthy, Kate Flannery, Sarah O'Donnell, Michelle Ryan and Emma Ryan who won the County Intermediate Ladies Football Final with Galtee Rovers today. Galtee Rovers will now play in the Tipperary Senior Club Championship for the first time in the club's history in 2022 - a great achievement for all concerned, especially the former Thomastown NS girls!
