Congratulations to the Galtee Rovers ladies football team who won the All Ireland Division Two Féile Shield Final in Clones, Co. Monaghan today v Kingscourt Stars from Cavan. Special mention must go to the current and past pupils from the school who are now All Ireland Champions!
The pupils in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Class made the trip to Hodson Bay in Athlone this year for their school tour. The activities the pupils participated in included kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, rafting, bushcraft and the inflatable water park. A great day was had by all.
Congratulations to the 6th Class pupils who completed their primary school education in Thomastown NS today. We wish you plenty of success in the future. Ádh mór ort.
The pupils from 3rd and 4th Class travelled to Cahir Park AFC to take part in their Primary Schools' Soccer Tournament. Two teams of boys and girls played on the day. Having played all their games, the Thomastown A team qualified for the Cup Final. The team gave a great performance but they were unfortunately defeated 4-3 by Ballyneale NS. Well done to both teams from the school who played fantastically well.
Best wishes to the past and present pupils from the school who will travel to the Féile Peile na nÓg National Finals in Cavan/Monaghan/Fermanagh with the Galtee Rovers Under 14 Ladies Football team this weekend.
Good to Emer McCarthy who will play for the South Tipperary Under 14 Schoolgirls Soccer squad in the Gaynor Cup in the University of Limerick over the weekend. Grandparents Day will take place in the school on Tuesday, June 20th starting at 12pm. All are very welcome to attend an afternoon of song, music, dance and chat.
Well done to the mixed doubles tennis team from the school who competed in the recent primary schools tennis competition held in Lattin Tennis Club.
The Golden Festival Committee has asked for donations of bottles for the bottle stall. These bottles can be anything from water, perfume, alcohol or soft drinks. Any donations can be left into the school or given directly to Evelyn Hally. As an incentive, there is a voucher for each class to be raffled for a McDonald's Happy Meal. One ticket per bottle with names on the back will be put into a special box so the more bottles brought in then the more chances to win. The draw for the voucher will take place on Tuesday, June 20th.
Junior and Senior Infants have been busy in the school garden recently planting, watering and weeding. They are looking forward to returning after the holidays for the harvesting of their crops.
Well done to past pupil Rebecca Farrell who finished third overall out of twenty six competitors in the National Féile Camogie Skills Final held in Abbotstown, Dublin on June 10th.
