The senior pupils were set the task of creating an egg parachute recently to help demonstrate the forces of gravity and air resistance in action. The pupils used household materials such as plastic bags, string, bubble wrap, cotton wool, balloons, newspaper and sticky tape to create their parachutes. We're delighted to report that the eggs survived (well, most of them did!) and made it safely back to the ground. Congratulations to our past pupil Leah McGrath who has been selected to play for the Republic of Ireland Under 15 soccer squad v Northern Ireland this weekend.
Best of luck Leah from everyone in Thomastown NS, hopefully it will be the first of many appearances for you in a green jersey! Congratulations to Anna Keane and Lucy Fogarty who helped Cashel Community School win the Munster Senior A Post Primary Camogie title for the first time against Coachford College last weekend.
Best wishes to Anna and Lucy in the upcoming All Ireland Semi Final in February! Congratulations to the Golden Kilfeacle GAA Under 17 panel who won the County Football Final against their near neighbours Galtee Rovers recently. Well done to all the past pupils from Thomastown NS who were involved with both Golden Kilfeacle and Galtee Rovers on the day - the future is certainly bright for both clubs!
Best wishes to all of our past pupils playing for both Golden Kilfeacle and Galtee Rovers in tomorrow's very unique and local County Under 17 Football Final. There's lots of divided loyalties in the school ahead of the final so we've decided that the safest thing to say is...may the best team win!
Congratulations to Kate Marnane who won the Munster Junior A Post Primary Camogie Final with Ursuline Thurles last weekend when they defeated Sacred Heart Clonakilty after extra time.
Best wishes as well to Kate in the upcoming All Ireland Semi Final on February 12th! Well done to Jack Lonergan, Thomas Fogarty, Luke Keane (Cashel Community School) and Jack Leamy (Thurles CBS) who were involved in last weekend's Harty Cup Quarter Final game between the two schools - it's great to see the boys playing in such a prestigious competition!
Best wishes to Jack Leamy in next Saturday's Harty Cup Semi Final game v Ardscoil Rís of Limerick. We had a lovely surprise for our pupils to brighten up these dark January days. Our new climbing wall was installed by Small Wall Arena over the break.
It is a fantastic addition to our playground and it is proving to be very popular with our pupils. |
