We wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
Beannachtaí na Nollag agus athbhliain faoi sheán is faoi mhaise daoibh go léir ó na daltaí i Scoil Náisiúnta Baile Thomáis! We wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year. Despite the busy time of year, we were delighted to welcome some important visitors to the school to celebrate the start of the Christmas holidays as Santa along with Mrs. Claus and Jerry The Elf paid us a visit. Our visitors spoke to everyone and very kindly gave all the pupils some tasty treats. Thank you to Santa, Mrs. Claus and Jerry for coming to the school - everyone was delighted to see you!
Thank you very much to everyone who supported our Christmas Draw. Our draw has raised a total of €4650. All of this money will be put towards the development of a new play area in the school. We held our draw in school today.

Best wishes to our past pupil Jack Leamy and the Tipperary Minors in the Munster GAA Hurling Championship Final v Limerick on Sunday, 20th December in the LIT Gaelic Grounds.
We were delighted to receive our second Zoom call on the theme of Irish Marine Biodiversity from Rebecca in the Sea Synergy Marine Education Centre in Kerry. Following on from our previous Zoom call two weeks ago, we worked together in groups to complete a project based on marine life and to create a poster based on the topic of "Climate Change". This week, we showed our finished projects and posters to Rebecca and completed a worksheet based on the Ocean Literacy Principles. Once again, thank you to Rebecca for giving us the opportunity to take part in such an interesting and worthwhile programme!
We are currently working on our procedural writing and this week's topic was "My Favourite Recipe". As well as completing the written task, the pupils decided to put their recipes to the test at home. The "Star Bakers" brought in delicious cookies, buns, brownies, rocky road and cakes for us all to taste throughout the week!
We were delighted to take part in Community Santa for Seniors in association with the Tipperary Garda District. We wrote Christmas cards and donated gifts which will be delivered to local Nursing Homes by members of An Garda Síochána. The senior members of our community have endured a difficult time throughout the pandemic so hopefully our cards and gifts will spread some Christmas cheer their way!
Congratulations to our past pupils Ellie Crowe and Taylor McCarthy who have qualified for the 2021 BT Young Scientist & Technology Competition. The girls attend St. Anne's Secondary School. They focused their project on the area of ecology and the topic of bracken fern. Good luck girls from everyone in Thomastown NS!
