Today we were delighted to be one of the first schools in Tipperary to be presented with the GAA 5 Star flag for our promotion and development of Gaelic Games in the school community. Thanks to our past pupil and Tipperary Hurler Niall Heffernan and Tipperary GAA Games Promotion Officer Kevin Hally who made the presentation.
We were delighted and honoured this morning to welcome back our past pupil and Munster and All Ireland Under 20 Hurling Champion Niall Heffernan to the school with the James Nowlan Cup. Comhghairdeas Niall on your fantastic achievements!!
There was great excitement in the school this morning as a number of very important visitors arrived. We were delighted to welcome Ger Browne (Knockavilla Kickhams and Tipperary Senior Hurler), Niall Heffernan (Golden Kilfeacle and Tipperary Under 20 Hurler), Aaron Browne (Knockavilla Kickhams and Tipperary Under 20 Hurler), Devon Ryan (Knockavilla Kickhams and Tipperary Under 20 Hurler), Eoghan Connolly (Cashel King Cormacs and Tipperary Under 20 Hurler), Kevin Hally (Tipperary GAA Games Promotion Officer), Tom Dawson (Tipperary GAA Coaching Officer), Lar Roche (Tipperary Ladies Gaelic Football Chairman) and James O'Leary (Tipperary Ladies Gaelic Football Intermediate Team Coach). They also brought with them the Liam McCarthy Cup (All Ireland Senior Hurling), the James Nowlan Cup (All Ireland Under 20 Hurling) and the Mary Quinn Cup (All Ireland Intermediate Ladies Football). Our visitors spoke to the pupils to give them some helpful advice for the future and signed lots of autographs also! Thanks to everyone for making it a very memorable Friday morning.
Well done to all the pupils in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Class who participated in the County Tipperary Primary Schools Cross Country Championships in Thurles on Thursday. There were excellent performances from everyone throughout the day. Congratulations to Leah McGrath who won the 5th/6th Class Girls Individual title, Lily Flannery who finished third in the 3rd/4th Class Girls race, Nicholas Walsh who finished 3rd in the 3rd/4th Class Boys race and Charlie Hall who was fifth in the 5th/6th Class Boys race. There was further success in the team competitions as the 3rd/4th Class Boys team (Nicholas O'Toole, Nicholas Walsh, Ryan Greenstein) finished first overall and won gold medals, the 3rd/4th Class Girls team (Lily Flannery, Sophie O'Toole, Emily Marnane) finished second and won silver medals and the 5th/6th Class Girls team (Leah McGrath, Grace Tuohy, Grace Hogan) finished second and were awarded silver medals.
Congratulations to Golden Kilfeacle GAA club on winning two West Tipperary Hurling Finals this weekend - the West Intermediate Hurling Final and the West Junior B Hurling Final. Well done to all involved and good luck in the upcoming County Championships.
The Junior and Senior Infants were getting very creative today in class making homes for all of their animals!
Thank you to everyone who has been bringing the Aldi Play Rugby stickers in to the school. We have one poster fully completed and we are half way through our second poster. We will keep collecting until the closing date of November 8th.
Well done to the Under 13 Ladies Football team who took part in the recent Cumann na mBunscol Blitz in Cashel. The team played two games on the day. They defeated Monard but unfortunately lost v Cloneen.
There was some fun in the sun for the Infants today during PE with a few games to end their second tiring week at school!
The Junior Infants had Maths Stations today. The practiced lots of skills including sorting, cutting and pattern making. Well done Juniors!
