Since returning to school after the summer holidays, the pupils from 1st to 6th Class have been busy training for the upcoming Primary Schools Cross Country in Thurles. However, the pupils were also given the challenge of running a mile this year as part of the GloHealth School Mile Challenge which promotes running and walking as part of a balanced, healthy lifestyle. On September 23rd, all of the pupils took on the challenge and ran the specially marked out course. Everyone completed the mile, a fantastic achievement by all! Junior and Senior Infants harvested the potatoes in the school garden on Friday. A great time was had by all digging the potatoes but an even better time was had boiling and eating the finished product afterwards.
The pupils from 1st and 2nd Class this week participated in the Irish Sign Language Awareness Week. They learned how to finger spell their names and took part in Sign For Today where they learned basic sign language phrases such as "Thank You", "Please" and "Can I Help You?"

Wild Explorers Preschool is happy to announce they are taking enrolments for the academic school year 2017/2018. From September 2016, the ECCE Scheme allows children to start pre-school from the age of 3 years and continue until they enter primary school. Children may enroll in pre-school at three different points in the year – September, January and April depending on when they turn three. If you are not sure when your child is eligible to start then do not hesitate to ring Rachael on 0838416800.
Wild Explorers Preschool will be moving to the G.A.A club in Golden, where a private facility for the preschool is currently being built. In our preschool we have a maximum ratio of 1-8 and your child will be provided with a fun, child centered environment in which they will learn through play and exploration. It is run by an experienced and highly qualified Nursery Teacher and is fully registered and compliant with Tusla. We will be holding an open evening in November and will look forward to meeting any parents who may be interested. Ring Rachael 083 8416800 for more details. The school was awash with colour and in particular blue and gold ahead of the All Ireland Hurling Final as the whole county prepared for the big day.
Good luck to the Tipperary hurlers and Ronan Maher in the All Ireland Hurling Final v Kilkenny. Even Waterford people are supporting Tipperary against the Cats.
