Thank you to Baby Laura and her mum who visited the class on Friday. The pupils are already looking forward to their next visit.
The First and Second Class pupils are currently participating in the Roots of Empathy Programme. The aim of the programme is to raise social/emotional competence and increase empathy among school children. At the heart of the programme are a neighbourhood baby and parent who visit the classroom a number of times over the school year. A trained Roots of Empathy Instructor coaches the pupils to observe the baby's development and to label the baby's feelings. The children will in turn identify and reflect on their own feelings and the feelings of others. Thank you to Baby Laura and her mum who visited the class on Friday. The pupils are already looking forward to their next visit. The Infants donned their overalls and wellies on Friday and went to work in the school garden. After much hard work, the pupils harvested some delicious potatoes.
Welcome back to all our pupils after the summer holidays and a very special welcome to all our new Junior Infants.
