We wish everyone a very safe and happy Halloween break. The school will reopen once again on Monday 1st November.
We are absolutely delighted with the new play area in our school. We would like to sincerely thank all those in our local community who helped to bring this project to fruition.
All of the funds for this play area were raised locally, through the Christmas Draw in 2020 and through the "Keep It Moving" Challenge that was organised by Golden Kilfeacle GAA Club and Kilfeacle RFC earlier this year. Thank you very much to everybody who contributed to these fundraisers. We would also like to thank our building contractor, Arthur Morrissey, for all of the work that he did on this project. Our pupils are thrilled with the new playing area. This will be a valuable asset to our school for many years to come. Congratulations to Grace Hayes, Grace Hogan, Laura Kennedy, Leah McGrath and Lily Flannery who won the TSDL Under 14 League title with Tipperary Town FC. Well done girls on another fantastic achievement!
3rd - 6th Class pupils were delighted to welcome back James for more rugby coaching over the past few weeks. The pupils participated in fundamental movement skills and activities, passing drills and team games. We are very grateful to Kilfeacle & District RFC who are providing the coaching programme in the school. Many thanks to James, the club's Games Development Officer, for his excellent coaching sessions. We can't wait for some more rugby after Halloween!
We were delighted to participate in two of the Marine Institute's Explorers Education Programme virtual workshops via Zoom delivered by Rebecca from Sea Synergy Marine Education Centre in Kerry. These workshops focused on Ireland's whales and dolphins and there was even a real time squid dissection. We also worked together in groups to complete projects based on the predator/prey relationships of sperm whales/squid, humpback whales/herring, orcas/seals and dolphins/salmon, which we presented during the second workshop. Once again, thank you to Rebecca for giving us the opportunity to take part in such an interesting and worthwhile programme!
The school office was invaded by a strange character on Friday who attempted to take over the secretarial duties. The verdict on their computer skills, phone manner and clerical expertise was unanimous - they're not a patch on the real school secretary...
5th & 6th Class provided us with many interesting and colourful characters on Friday. We had scary clowns, witches, wizards, soccer players, evil dolls, Minecraft characters, rugby players, a banana, zombies and a dancing T-Rex even made an appearance! Happy Howl-oween everyone!
Creepin' it real in the Infant classroom where we had lots of very cute monsters, villains, superheroes, cartoon characters and princesses on Friday!
