Well done to all our current and past pupils who took part in the Munster LGFA Under 12 Ladies Football Blitz in Nemo Rangers, Cork City with Golden Kilfeacle Ladies Football last Saturday. And best wishes to those involved with the County Development squads playing in Banteer, Co. Cork tomorrow. Great to see so many so busy and active over the summer holidays!
Congratulations to Leah McGrath who scored two goals for the Ireland Under 16 soccer team v Faroe Islands on Tuesday. Brilliant to see Leah's International career progressing even further!
Congratulations to Grace Hayes, Lily Flannery and Grace Tuohy who won the County Under 16 A Ladies Football Final with Galtee Rovers St Pecaun's Ladies Football Club on Saturday when they defeated Moycarkey Borris in the County Final. Well done girls on another fantastic achievement!
We were delighted to once again have the opportunity to have Grandparents Day in the school prior to the summer holidays. It was the first time since June 2018 that we were able to celebrate the occasion and this year it coincided with Graduation Day for our 6th Class pupils. A huge thank you to everyone who helped to organise the day including Garda Eddie Nugent who looked after traffic management, Nicholas & Kevin O'Toole who ensured that we had ample seating for everyone, Golden Kilfeacle GAA Club for the use of their chairs and cups, Fr Coffey who celebrated Mass for the 6th Class Graduation Ceremony, Michael Fitzgerald who, as chairperson, represented the school's Board of Management, everyone who sent in cakes, buns and all manner of tasty treats and the parents and staff members who looked after the refreshments on the day. And we owe a big debt of gratitude to whoever helped to make sure it didn't rain that day as well!
Thank you to all the parents of the 6th Class pupils and of course the many, many grandparents and family members who visited the school and helped to make the day so special and memorable. We look forward to doing it all again in the not too distant future! Well done to Sophie O'Toole, Avril Marnane, Lucy Hall, Jessica Byrnes, Mia McCormack (Golden Kilfeacle LGFA), Niamh McCarthy, Lucia Tuohy & Bella Greenstein (Galtee Rovers St. Pecauns LGFA) who played for their respective clubs in the Mini Games in Semple Stadium on Saturday. The games were played during half time in the TG4 All Ireland Senior Ladies Gaelic Football Championship Semi Finals. As well as playing in the "Field of Legends", the girls also had the opportunity to march behind the famous Artane Boys Band. A great day out was had by all involved!
Some action from Sports Day 2023 - despite all the screaming, they did actually manage to collect some water in the pipes! We held our Sports and Activity Days last Thursday and Friday. It was a busy two days of art, dance, quizzes and the traditional sports day activities while we also managed to complete our 3rd - 6th Class summer soccer league finals, had a challenging and very wet water activity for the 5th & 6th Class pupils along with a very welcome visit from the ice-cream van! We were also delighted to welcome back last year's 6th Class pupils who came back to visit and acted as the match officials for our soccer league finals. Phew!
Saying goodbye to the 6th Class for the final time last Friday! We said goodbye to the 6th Class pupils who completed their primary education in Thomastown NS today. We wish them well as they move on to post-primary school and thank them for the wonderful contribution that they made to school life over the years in Thomastown NS. Go n-éirí an bóthar libh!
