Congratulations to Lucy Hall, Tomás Leahy, Avril Marnane and Benjamin Moloney who won the Plate Final at the Inter Schools Tennis Tournament in Lattin Lawn Tennis Club recently. Many thanks to the organisers. Very well done to you all!
Well done to our Under 13 & Under 11 teams who were busy taking part in the Tipperary Cumann na mBunscol hurling and camogie competitions prior to the summer holidays. All of the teams acquitted themselves very well and represented the school with great distinction.
Our equestrian team had a brilliant day at the Leugh NS Showjumping Competition in Cashel Equestrian Centre recently. We had great success in the individual events and we were delighted to come in first place in the team event that concluded the day.
Congratulations to Mia, Niamh, Jamie, Lucia, Beau and Lucy who represented Thomastown NS so well. Junior and Senior Infants really enjoyed taking part in the parish GAA blitz along with the children in Golden National School prior to the summer holidays. They played two hurling games and two football games with the emphasis on participation and enjoyment for all. The teams were well managed by the 6th Class children in both schools.
Thank you very much to James McCarthy and Golden/Kilfeacle GAA for organising this event. We said goodbye to our wonderful 6th Class pupils who completed their primary education in Thomastown NS today. We wish them well as they move on to post-primary school and thank them for the wonderful contribution that they made to school life over the years in Thomastown NS. Go n-éirí an bóthar libh!
We were delighted to welcome the Tipperary Under 20 hurling captain and local hero, Ben Currivan, to the school on Wednesday. Ben brought the J.J. Kenneally Munster Under 20 Hurling Championship Cup with him as well, a cup which Tipperary won recently when they defeated Cork in the Munster Final. Ben gave some great words of advice to all the pupils about how they should prepare and train as players. Huge thanks to Ben for all the time he gave with the pupils. Hopefully, we will see Ben back in the school again in the not too distant future with more silverware for both Golden Kilfeacle GAA and Tipperary.
Enjoying an impromptu Ceilí and dancing to 'Galway Girl' - an appropriate song for the venue! Trying to beat the bog and save their shoes during the Turf Challenge in Killary Adventure Centre! |
