FAI Primary Schools Soccer - Munster Champions and Munster Runner's Up

​On March 14th, the Thomastown NS Girls’ team won the Spar FAI Primary Schools Girls County Tipperary Soccer Final at New Hill Park, Two Mile Borris. On April 14th, the Thomastown NS Boys’ team won the FAI Primary Schools County Tipperary Boys Soccer Final also held in New Hill Park. As a result, both teams qualified for the Munster Finals held in the WIT Sports Campus, Carriganore on April 20th. In total, 54 teams had entered the Tipperary section of the girls’ competition and 104 teams had entered the boys’ section of the competition. This was the first time that two teams from the same school had won their respective County Finals and qualified for the Munster Finals. The winning schools from all six counties in the province were present in WIT to compete for the Munster titles.
The Boys' team defeated Newtown NS/Kilmacthomas (Waterford) and Aughacasla NS/Castlegregory (Kerry) and qualified for the final of the competition. They played Croom NS (Limerick) in the final but were unfortunately defeated and ended the tournament as Munster Runner’s Up.
The Girls' team defeated Villierstown NS (Waterford) and Little Island NS (Cork) and qualified for the final of the competition. The played Ballylanders NS (Limerick) in the final and the game went to extra time before Thomastown NS eventually won. As a result, the Girls' team have now qualified for the All Ireland Final to be held in the Aviva Stadium, Dublin on May 11th where they will represent Tipperary and Munster. On the day, they will play the Connacht, Leinster and Ulster Champions.
