The Irish Defence Forces are currently visiting schools around the country delivering tricolours and copies of the Proclamation ahead of the 1916 Centenary celebrations. On October 2nd, Sgt. Barry Sheehan and Private Katie Twohig, from the 12th Infantry Battalion of Sarsfield Barracks in Limerick City, visited the school. An extract from the Proclamation was read by Emer McCarthy and Jack Lonergan. Sarah O'Donnell was presented with the National Flag on behalf of the school while Thomas Fogarty was presented with a copy of the Proclamation on behalf of the school. The pupils then had a chance to ask the members of the Defence Forces about the Irish Army and 1916. The next stage of the 1916 Centenary celebrations will take place on March 15th 2016.
