Knitting With Mrs. O'Dwyer

During the course of the school year, we have been very fortunate to have had Catherine O'Dwyer visiting on a regular basis to share her creative talents with our students. Catherine has taught our students how to knit and most of them have now mastered this skill.

A wide selection of knitted pieces have been produced during the past few months. These include teddies, headbands, scarves, bags, hats, bunting, blankets and even some jumpers. The children have found knitting to be very enjoyable and relaxing pastime. They have learned a skill for life and we have all benefitted from this worthwhile experience. Sincere thanks to Catherine for all of her fantastic work with our children. We hugely appreciate it!

Leugh NS Showjumping Competition 2022

A number of our pupils headed to Cashel Equestrian Centre to take part in the Leugh NS Showjumping Competition 2022 today. Well done to Evelyn Harries, Michael Dunne, Jamie Crowe, Lucia Tuohy, Niamh McCarthy and Lucy Crowe who gave such great performances throughout the day. Congratulations to Jamie who came first in his 60cm class and Niamh who finished second in her 60cm class. Also, congratulations to the combined team from Thomastown NS and Mount Bruis NS as they came second overall in the team event. This team included Jamie and Lucy. Special mention as well to Sinéad who was there to support everyone. Thank you to Leugh NS for organising such a great day out!

Godolphin Ireland Victor Stud Visit

We were delighted to visit Victor Stud today following an invitation received from Godolphin Ireland. The stud farm is only a short walk from the school so we donned our hi-vis jackets and headed off this morning. Thank you to Paddy, Colette, Mick and John from Godolphin Ireland who showed us around the farm and explained to us the work involved in running and maintaining such a busy farm. They explained how to measure and weigh a horse as well as the importance of good grooming, healthcare and feeding. We learned about micro-chipping, examined a horse passport and we also saw the horse walker in action along with the machinery in use each day on the farm. At the end of our visit, Paddy very kindly gave each of the pupils a goodie bag to go with the information book we received at the beginning of our visit. On our way back to the school, we were delighted to receive more treats courtesy of Breda and Kevin O'Toole which led to an impromptu picnic at Thomastown Cross!

Thank you to everyone at Victor Stud along with Breda and Kevin who helped to make today such a memorable and enjoyable day out.

Graduation & End Of School Year Mass

As we near the end of the school year, we were delighted to host a Graduation & End Of Year Mass in school last week. Thank you to Fr. Coffey for celebrating the mass and well done to all the pupils who sang so beautifully throughout. Special mention to our wonderful 6th Class pupils who were the central figures in the entire ceremony as they prepare to graduate from primary school.

We were delighted to visit the Ballyhass Activity Centre in the Lee Valley, Coachford, Co. Cork for our first school tour since 2019. There was lots of running, jumping, climbing, hopping and swimming done over the course of the day with the end result being lots of tired bodies! We spent time on the Aquapark and the High Nets Course, which is the first of its kind in Ireland, as well as taking part in team building challenges and a wilderness trail. Huge thanks to the staff in Ballyhass Activity Centre for the way they looked after all the pupils during our time there - we will be back!

Well done to both our current and past pupils who were busy on the playing fields with Golden Kilfeacle GAA recently.
The Under 11s reached the semi-final of the Michael Hogan Festival of Football Tournament which involved teams from all around Tipperary. The Under 15s won the West Final and they are now looking forward to a County Semi-Final in the next few weeks. Congratulations everyone!

A selection of photographs from our big day in the Aviva Stadium recently for the SPAR FAI Primary 5s National Finals. We are very proud of all of our pupils who travelled with us. Thank you to the parents and family members who made the journey to Dublin to cheer on our team. Your support was very much appreciated. A special well done to the eight team members who played with such skill and determination. You were all fantastic!

We had an amazing experience on May 17th, one that we will remember for many years to come. Thomastown Abú!!
