Thank you to everyone who supported our "Jingle your Jumper" fundraiser in aid of Down Syndrome Tipperary Branch prior to the Christmas holidays. We were delighted to support this wonderful organisation. Míle buíochas daoibh go léir. We were delighted to attend the Kilfeacle & District RFC Tag Rugby Blitz for 5th & 6th Class pupils. There were 14 schools in attendance from West Tipperary and East Limerick along with the URC Rugby trophy. Thank you to everyone in Kilfeacle & District RFC for organising a great day out on The Hill!
The pupils were delighted to get to see the URC rugby trophy when it visited the school recently. Thank you very much to Patricia Donovan and Kilfeacle and District RFC for arranging to bring this impressive piece of silverware to the school.
We welcomed members of the Galtee Rovers St Pecaun's GAA Under 19 team and the Galtee Rovers St Pecaun's Ladies Football Club Under 16 and Under 19 teams to the school who were victorious in their respective County Finals recently.
We were delighted to have our past pupils Evan Kennedy and Grace Hayes back with us to show us the cups. Congratulations to all involved with this great achievement! Congratulations to Cian, Alice and Cathal who were prize winners in the Credit Union Art Competition. Jacqueline from Tipperary Credit Union Limited visited the school recently to present them with their prizes. They were thrilled with their new art sets. Well done everyone!
Congratulations to David Cannon on winning a prize for his scarecrow in the competition that was run by
Tipperary County Council Library Service recently. A well-deserved reward for the huge amount of work that went into constructing his werewolf. Maith thú David! Our Under 13 and Under 11 gaelic football and ladies football teams were in action with Tipperary Cumann na mBunscol games recently. Some of our younger players were delighted to wear the Thomastown NS jersey for the first time. Well done to our boys and girls who put in a brilliant effort in all of their blitzes. We had great fun making scarecrows in preparation for the Halloween holidays a few weeks ago. The children worked in groups to design and construct their scarecrows. They sourced all of the materials themselves and they worked together to produce a fantastic range of creations.
The school resembled a barn for a number of hours with the amount of straw that we had around the place. We created a huge mess but we also created some great memories. It was a fun-filled day for everyone. Well done to Niamh McCarthy and Jamie Crowe who recently took part in a pony race for juvenile riders at the Tipperary Races. This unique event was the last race of the day on the card and it was televised live on television also. All of the young riders got to use the weigh room ahead of their race, were treated the same as the professional jockeys and met champion jockey Rachael Blackmore.
Our Junior and Senior Infants had a lovely morning visiting the library in Tipperary Town recently. They listened to some stories and then they had a look around the different areas in the library. The children got to try out the new interactive table and they had some relaxation time in the sensory area. They also had the opportunity to browse through the wide selection of books and do some colouring. Each child received "My Little Library Bag" which contains a lovely selection of books that can be read at home. Thank you to the staff there for making our visit so enjoyable.
