The Junior and Senior Infants explored pointillism in Art. They made these farm pictures which tied in with their animal theme this week. Well done everyone! It was "real" rugby weather this week for our coaching session with James from Kilfeacle & District RFC! Despite the tricky conditions, everyone really enjoyed themselves - the focus was on improving our footwork and developing our side-stepping technique.
To celebrate Science Week 2020, the pupils in 5th & 6th Class participated in a virtual physics workshop through Zoom with a scientist called Simon from Manchester in England. The workshop was called "Science Made Simple" and it was organised by the Tipperary Festival of Science. Simon explained all about sound to us and we completed a number of experiments which helped us to identify sound waves, vibrations and decibels. We also looked at chemical reactions by using everyday items available to us.
3rd & 4th Class learned about engineering this week. Each pupil constructed a machine model. They built robots, cars, lamps, buzzer games and even a floor mopping machine. Very impressive work all round!
As part of the Tipperary Festival of Science, pupils in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Class participated in a virtual science workshop today. We met a scientist named Lucinda via a Zoom call. She demonstrated a range of fun and interesting science experiments. We did each experiment with her. We learned about acid-base reactions by making volcanoes and "fruitcanoes". We also constructed a DNA ladder. Our pupils throughly enjoyed this science workshop.
Great progress with the construction work. The concrete floors were poured last week and the blockwork is now underway.
We were delighted to get back out on the pitch for another rugby coaching session with James from Kilfeacle & District RFC. This week, we worked on our decision-making on the pitch and developed our listening skills through drills and games. Thanks once again to James for another great session.
Congratulations to Lucy Crowe who won the first prize in the recent Tipperary Credit Union Art Competition 2020. Lucy's art work is based on the theme "Imagine More". Participants were encouraged to unlock their imagination and look at how art inspires us and our communities. Brilliant work Lucy!
