Part 1: Admissions to the 2023/2024 school year
 
Application and Decision Dates for admission to Thomastown National School (2023/2024)
 
The following are the dates applicable for admission to Junior Infants:
  • The school will commence accepting applications for admission on 5th January 2023
  • The school shall cease accepting applications for admission on 15th February 2023
  • The date by which applicants will be notified of the decision on their application is 24th February 2023
  • The period within which applicants must confirm an offer of admission is 10th March 2023  

​Failure to accept an offer within the prescribed period above may result in the offer being withdrawn. 
 
Note: the school will consider and issue decisions on late applications in accordance with the school’s admission policy.


Special Class Application and Decision Dates for admission to Thomastown NS (2023/2024)


The following are the dates applicable for admission to the schools's Special Class which caters for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder: 
  • The school will commence accepting applications for admission on 5th January 2023 
  • The school shall cease accepting applications for admission on 15th February 2023 
  • The dates by which applicants will be notified of the decision on their application is 24th March 2023
  • The period within which applicants must confirm an offer of admission is 31st March 2023 
 

Number of places being made available in Thomastown National School 2023/2024

​The number of places being made available in Junior Infants is 18.

Both our ASD Special Classes are currently at capacity. Any places being offered will be based on the number of students exiting the special classes in June 2023. 

Any decision to accept a pupil will be based on him/her fulfilling the admission criteria as outlined in our Admissions Policy and a place being available in the ASD Special Class. 



Part 2: Admissions to the 2022/2023 school year

Information regarding the admission process for the Intake Group for ASD Special Class for the 2022/2023 school year 


In respect of the 2022/2023 school year, the total number of applications for admission received by the school was 14. 

Breakdown of places allocated for the 2022/2023 school year (ASD Special Class):
  • Number of places available: 6
  • Number of applications received: 14 
  • ​Number of offers made and accepted under each criteria was as follows - 
 
  1. Pupils currently enrolled in the school = 2 
  2. Applicants with siblings currently enrolled in the school = 0 
  3. Children of current staff = 0 
  4. Children living within the school catchment area = 4
  5. Children living outside the school catchment area = 0 
 
  • Total number of offers made: 6 
  • Number of names placed on waiting list for the school year concerned: 8
