In class we will be talking about:
2nd and 3rd Class decided to make the most of the fine weather recently and go on a nature trail around the school. Equipped with their buckets and clip-boards, they tried to identify the different types of trees, fruits and vegetables that are growing around the yard, pitch and school garden. Their final task was to go on a mini-beast search before returning to the classroom to record everything that they had found.
Over the past number of weeks, the Under 13 Boys Football team have successfully overcome Upperchurch NS and Drom NS in the group stages of the Cumann na mBunscol competition. The final game in the group was played last Friday (October 9th) v Boherlahan NS. Once again, the boys secured another win and as a result they have qualified for the County Semi Final where they will play the North Cumann na mBunscol champions. This game is due to take place before the Mid-Term Break. Good luck to all involved.
On October 7th, the Under 13 Ladies Football team went to Cloneen to play Moyglass NS, Rahealty NS and Cloneen NS. In June, Colin O'Riordan (2015 Tipperary Under 21 Football captain, Tipperary Under 21 Hurler and Tipperary Senior Footballer) and Louise Cadell (Tipperary Minor Ladies Football player) paid a visit to the school. They were invited to present the Under 13 Ladies Football and Under 13 Camogie teams with their County medals while they also made a presentation to the successful Football Skills team (Eoin Marnane, Callum McCarthy and Eimear Heffernan) who won the County Final and finished third overall in the Munster Final. Both Colin and Louise also signed autographs and gave some words of advice and encouragement to all the pupils.
Congratulations to Louise who was a member of the Tipperary Minor Ladies Football team that won the Munster and All Ireland Ladies Football titles for the second year in a row over the summer. Also, best wishes to Colin who is currently out in Melbourne, Australia. He was selected to take part in the Australian Rules Draft Combine trials. If successful when the trials are completed then he will go on to become a professional Australian Rules football player. The Irish Defence Forces are currently visiting schools around the country delivering tricolours and copies of the Proclamation ahead of the 1916 Centenary celebrations. On October 2nd, Sgt.
